At her private practice at Belmontdentalclinic.ca, Ghasaq Al-Bakkal, DMD helps her patients fix oral health issues and offers advice on good oral well-being. In line with her profession, Ghasaq Al-Bakkal is a member of dental organizations, including the Ontario Dental Association (ODA).
Founded in 1867, ODA, a voluntary professional association, represents more than 10,000 dentists in Ontario. ODA seeks to provide a central knowledge base on oral health and the dental profession. Also, ODA advocates for the members who represent nine out of ten dentists in Ontario on public policies that affect oral health care in Ontario, encourage best practices, and support career and well-being, all for the betterment of the industry.
The association raises public awareness of the importance of oral hygiene in the communities. To further engage the community, ODA offers a mediation program.
The ODA Patient-Dentist Mediation Program provides a neutral platform to solve disputes between dentists and patients about treatment and other matters. The program is voluntary, with the primary requirement that neither parties seek or involve legal representation but may pursue legal advice. All parties should actively participate, and the mediation is based on the good faith of all involved.
